Tips for Caring for your Dog Grooming Blades
When it comes to caring for your dog grooming blades, daily maintenance is required to maximise their lifespan & keep them working at their highest standard.
Clipper Cooling Spray
Clipper Cooling Spray is a 4 in 1 spray, as it lubricates, disinfects, cools down and degreases your blades. It should be applied to your blades throughout the day when the blades are in use to instantly cool them down and avoid overheating. You can test if your blade is becoming too hot by gently placing it on the palm of your hand.
Recommended use: Every 10-15 minutes when blade starts to get warm.
How to use: Apply directly to your blade whilst in use to instantly cool them down and avoid overheating.
Clipper Oil
It is essential to oil your blades with Clipper Oil, including trimmer blades, everyday to keep them clean, sterilised and cool.
Recommended use: Before each dog, at the end of every day and after you’ve washed your blades with Blade Wash.
How to use: (1) Apply a small dab of oil directly onto your blade on the six key oiling points. (2) Put your blade back onto your clipper & turn the clipper on, so that the oil can evenly distribute itself.
Blade Wash
Using blade wash is a vital step in your blade care process, as it ensures your blades are sufficiently cleaned, disinfected and degreased after use.
Recommended use: Once every 1-2 weeks.
How to use: (1) Pour roughly 1cm of blade wash into a clean Tupperware container. (2) Turn your clipper on with the blade fitted, submerge just the blade into the blade wash & leave the blade submerged for 10-15 seconds with the clipper running. (3) Put the blade on a piece of tissue to dry for 15-20 minutes. (4) Once dry, apply clipper oil to lubricate the blades before use.
It’s very important to keep your equipment properly maintained on a daily basis to avoid rust, prevent over-heating and to maximise the life of your equipment. Extending the life and caring for your dog grooming blades can considerably help you save money by reducing the likelihood of having to replace your blades or get them sharpened frequently.
